Mediteranean City Garden

Briefing: In the authentic fortification town of Naarden Vesting, the wish was to transform two houses with their inner gardens into one shared city garden in order to be able to enjoy nature, but also to sit outside in an ‘always green’ city garden.

Design: From the clean sloping lines of the cadastral drawings, we designed an indoor garden, surrounded by hedges of olive willow and adjacent round borders filled with Mediterranean plants and trees.

Studio Hortus likes to think outside the box when it comes to what can and cannot be done. Sometimes a house, restaurant, or office is too dark for real plants, but the client still wishes to create a green experience. In such cases, we will discuss with the client and together create a tailor-made design for artificial plants or trees, potentially combined with silk flowers.
